The Dancing House or Ginger and Fred in Prague

Life is but a dance dolls... once in a while you get battered and bruised from the footing. Just because you can't find your rhythm doesn't mean you don't keep it classy. Barbie knows that her Ken works hard but she can't help but lose her rhythm sometimes. It's not his fault but most likely this makes him crazy. So when you can't find your best footing even with some help from your best dolls you just have to live with it! Tea or not in the house!

The Dancing House or Ginger and Fred in Prague

"Dancing House (Tančící dům) occupies a fine position alongside the Vltava River in Prague. This stunning building, constructed between 1992-1996, is somewhat of a rarity in the city centre: a modern glass building surrounded by historic architecture.

Dancing House has daring, curvy outlines, which led its architects Vlado Milunc and the American Frank O Gehry to initially name it the "Fred and Ginger Building", after the legendary dance duo." (via/http://www.pragueexperience.com)

Solo Houses Project: Casa Johnston Marklee

Barbie loves it when artists are allowed to create carte blanche without too much direction or criticism. Why? This doll knows firsthand how upset her Ken gets when he's been criticized on his work for giving it his own unique style. While it's best that all artists consider a little constructive criticism now and then, it really helps them shine when you let them do it their way and on their terms. Otherwise don't contract with them. And that's what French Developer Christian Bourdais did. He enlisted 8 architects to design vacation homes on reserve two hours south of Barcelona, Spain. The results where nothing less than spectacular.

Casa Johnston Marklee

This casa was designed Johnston Marklee a pair of Los Angeles based architects. The home rests amid almond grove “like a singular object.“ Panoramic views are provided by the roof terrance which also houses a swimming pool. The interior rooms are interconnected with sliding doors to accommodate privacy or allow the space to be completely open. (via/Archdaily)

Loving life on the water! Looking at the Louvre - Abu Dhabi

Do you stay in water dolls because you love it? Well this Barbie loves the water dolls! Not enough to live in it but so much because it calms her fiery nature and tames her inner dragon... Actually this doll's Ken gets most of the credit for her calmness.

Well dolls if you love the idea of living on the water this piece of architecture is for you!

The Louvre Museum

The Louvre Museum in Abu Dhabi was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel. Nouvel has been awarded the 2008 Pritzker Prize, one of architectures highest honors. It's no surprise because his ingenuity and his experimentation in creativity brings to life structures that translate & give their environment a voice.

Community Service Architecture: The South Mountain Library

Barbie loves that great architecture need not be restricted to your dream home. In fact barbie loves when great architecture is used to support the public in places that matter. Beginning a new series of focus on architectural design, Barbie has decided to focus this week on Community Service design!

The South Mountain Community Library

“Designed by Richärd+Bauer this new 51,600 square foot facility combines the functions of a modern public library with the components of a state of the art central campus library. The library includes a 200 seat multifunctional meeting room, conference and multimedia center, high tech classrooms, computer center, quiet and interaction rooms, as well as all the components of both public and academic libraries. A children’s library and storytime room are organized below the academic story telling institution with vertical connection to the exterior courtyard dedicated to the children’s use.” - Archdaily.com

What kind of places does your community service take place in?  Are they like this?

Barbie hopes they're fabulous!
Enjoy!
