Dream Roomspiration: The Lipstick Lips

Barbie knows there's nothing like a good kiss. And you should waste any chance to give or get one. That gorgeous blonde Ken should know that by now. But what happens afterwards? Leave a kiss behind then be inspired by it! Decorate your room and seal it with a kiss!

Inspiration: Style Icons Alexander McQueen vs. Salvador Dali - Pleasure

“It is important to look at death because it is a part of life. It is a sad thing, melancholic but romantic at the same time. It is the end of a cycle—everything has to end.”

– Alexander McQueen, 2010

Must death be seen as a sadness? Can death be a pleasure? It is said that there is pleasure in a little death. I once read somewhere that love, sex & death were synonymous. It seems that perhaps the French agree. For you see there is a phrase “Le Petit Mort” and translated it refers to the Little Death. It is coined in reference to the achievement of spiritual, mental or physical release of an orgasm & the feeling of melancholy that transcends the experience. The “life force” that is expended through the chemical release of the body produces a loss, a pleasurable loss, albeit a loss.

So perhaps when you next take pleasure in death remember its but a little death and you should be enjoying it.

The pleasure is all mine.

Enjoy,
Kisses. m.

Inspiration: Style Icon Salvador Dali - Living Art

In Voluptas Mors

A famous collaboration between the Dali and Phillipe Halsman, a surrealistic portrait of Dali beside a large skull, in fact a tableau vivant composed of seven nudes. Halsman took three hours to arrange the models according to a sketch by Dali.

Dali and Halsman are two artists which I happen to absolutely adore individually. And as a matter of fact I'm quite fond of their collaborations. It's in the idea of one person that another is able to capture perfection. Such mutual admiration between both collaborative parties must be amazing. Ah... to trust another with your idea without question. It's a wonder if that can exist in modern times among creative types. Needless to say  this image has always been a great deal of inspiration for moi as it embodies the reminder of life, beauty and mortality merely a glimpse away.

Enjoy the art,

Inspiration: Style Icon Salvador Dali - Atomic

Dali Atomicus
Atomic Dali is probably the most famous picture of the controversial Spanish painter, shot by photographer Phillipe Halsman. This isn't an isolated action, but part of the outcome of a continuous collaboration between the artists, that started in the mid-1940s, when Surrealism was at its peak. This sort of work wasn't new or unusual, as it may seem at first glance among established artists; Man Ray and Dora Maar, for instance, did it often. In this particular case, achieving this photograph was not an easy task.

"Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing."

Salvador Dali is this amazing surrealist painter, that I absolutely love. Of course! And it's way deeper than that. I have such a passion and find myself completely enraptured by his work. To explain a little, my dreams are sometimes like a Dali painting and I occasionally struggle with what that possibly means, but for the most part... I just go with it. It's kinda fun, of course, in a unique way. Could you honestly expect anything less from moi? *blush* I don't have a fascinating story behind the 'why' or 'how' I came to admire his work. It was always just there in my life and I don't remember a time without knowing it.

I had to post this because an amazing person I know... has no clue who or what 'Dali is. And that fellow from the new 'Twilight' film, Robert Pattinson, is going to play a young Salvador Dali in his next film project. Which to my understanding is called 'Little Ashes', so I'm very excited. kisses. m.
