EHA Family Trust Residence / Ward+Blake Architects

Barbie trusts herself and because of that she's able to trust her favorite people... Especially Ken. She knows he's a smart & talented guy capable of deciding what works best for him in life, love and working and Barbie does her best not to interfere in his personal affairs ever unless invited to do so. Why? If you can trust yourself, then you can trust others! And this doll loves seeing others happy & succeeding!!! Now something you might find trust in, is a dream house!

The project was sited on a low lying wetland that demanded consideration due to a high water table. The solution to this problem was to elevate the house three feet above existing grade and to utilize an insulated slab on grade to avoid the probability of fostering mold growth in a crawl space. The Architectural water features we used to enhance the project while at the same time provided positive drainage. - arch daily

Would you trust yourself to resist this dreamhouse?

Barbie wouldn't resist!
Enjoy!

Surf House By XTEN architecture

Barbie loves that life comes and goes in waves. In fact one of her favorite Kens is much like the tides of the sea. Coming & Going is simply what he does and she adores & respects him for always being real & true to himself. Unlike other dolls, her appreciation for Ken is like that for the ocean, Barbie just thoroughly enjoys the ebb & flow of his company. While she enjoys when she gets to see him a great deal, it's best not to try to lock down any spirit or make demands. You simply just enjoy the flow with people if you really care. A great way to enjoy the ebb and flow of the ocean is in a beautiful Dreamhouse built with the surf in mind.

The Surf House By XTEN architecture

The Surfhouse is comprised of an abstract block of ebonized cedar. Located a near the Pacific Ocean in Hermosa Beach. The site is quite compact so the architects approached the project by subtracting the larger program areas from a solid volumetric form that conformed to the zoning regulations and sought to maximize space, light, and views. It was precisely their intent to create a sense of privacy and retreat for the home owners in a busy beachside area.

Would you enjoy the ebb & flow of where the waves take you in this Dreamhouse?

Barbie would & hopes you would too!
Enjoy!

Tula House by Patkau Architects

Barbie loves remote getaways and can think of no better place to escape being pulled into the dramatics & the aftermath of a few of her favorite Kens escapades with dolls than a dreamy house out in a remote part of the beautiful world! It's not that being a G is bad, it's that these G ways are affecting this doll and scaring away her chances for romance with other guys! So a nice quiet Dreamhouse escape is exactly what this doll craves!

This Canadian house by Patkau Architects is anchored to a rock by steel rods so that it treads lightly on the ground and cantilevers above the Pacific Ocean.

Tula House by Vancouver-based Patkau Architects  was designed as the main home for a married couple on Quadra Island, nearly six hours' drive north of Vancouver. It also doubles as informal headquarters for their organization, Tula Foundation, which supports healthcare and environmental initiatives. - Denzeen

Lovelli Residence by Word of Mouth

Barbie loves when people spread joy and happiness by word of mouth. She encourages her favorite Ken to express himself through positivity with his ideas versus discussing small things. The best way to express joy is through living! Where better than a dream house built from Word of Mouth... Architects?

The Lovelli Residence by Word of Mouth

“The brief to Architect Valentina Audrito and her team at Word of Mouth was very clear: create a fun, unique space in which the client, an Italian socialite/jewellery designer, could live and entertain.

Set on only 300sqm of land in the trendy area of Seminyak, Bali, the site presented challenges not only in terms of its limited size but also its east orientation. The design solution therefore required a creative use of the space, where different functions could harmoniously overlap and interact with each other – the dining area also becomes a lounge, the living zone flows seamlessly into the pool area, and each bedroom functions also as a living space. The result of allowing the spaces to overlap, instead defi ning functions by changes in level and sliding panels, is a sense of a much larger space.

The first floor is dominated by the master bedroom, fl anked on 3 sides by green terraces, which maximise natural light and enhance the perception of the size of the space. Here too, functions comfortably overlap each other within the one area – there is a visual interaction between the bed, bathtub, shower, sink, and writing table. All vertical partitions on this floor are treated using wooden louvers to maximise the natural light, giving this space a much lighter feel in contrast to the strongly defined concrete structure of the floor below.

The overall aesthetic of the villa is a tribute to the Mediterranean architecture that played a role in the backgrounds of both the client and Italian-born Audrito. Rounded corners are favoured over hard edges in order to infuse a softness to the imposing lines of the structure.

The material palette is purposefully restrained; largely consisting of white rendered walls, polished concrete and white painted timber – all offset with an abundance of natural vegetation. The client requested that the architectural material palette be limited as much as possible to black and white (the only colours she wears). As is typical of the architecture of Word of Mouth, the colour is instead introduced in the playful interior furnishings; a combination of items selected from all over the word, and pieces designed by the practice, such as the furniture range inspired by eggs.” (Via Archdaily)
