And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time
Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time
Ch-ch-Changes - David Bowie
Ch-Ch-CHANGES. Where to begin? Try where not to begin.
'Why are our lives so pathetic?' says my friend. Meaning why does our life have to 'SUCK' right now. I respond and I mean this for everyone I know, "I am not PATHETIC & neither are you! I am fabulous!" (*which I am - that's not arrogance people.) Honestly how many people do you really know that continually GET BACK UP instead of giving up? kisses & kudos to those who do! Ok, back to it, so I say "life's just full of speed bumps" and right now my old friend, there just happens to be alot of those. We will shine through this stuff. PROMISE.
Where is all this coming from? I finally lost my job. To the friends out there calling me and texting me and emailing me and even those who aren't, as MY FRIENDS I say, THANK YOU! I know you will continue to support me through wonderful friendship that has perservered all this time. It's nice to know that there are friends out there that care. Working in a music store was an amazing and fun time in my life. It had some very high points over the years! Met some great people. But with that job there was a lot of bitterness and resentment in the end. And most of you know me well enough to know, I don't hold grudges toward anyone, EVER! So this has been long overdue and I am happy because I am INDEED ready for a change in careers and tired of being bitter about that place. Especially when I love MUSIC so very much. It's been a little bittersweet for far too long.
Additionally, there were things I promised myself I would try to accomplish if I were given the chance to slow down to catch my breath: A.) Try and get something published, for absolutely nothing or for monetary purposes, and B.) Take time to walk around my world and document the things around me in photos and artwork. No fancy paints, tools, cameras needed. I've come to believe that a true artist can shine through regardless of the equipment.
The writing. It will continue! There will be the two stories up this week. I swear, in fact if I can finish one, TONIGHT. Thank you to all the friends, family, musicians, artists and etc. You all inspire me daily to pursue the dream. There are great changes coming. It will continue... as will I.
kisses. m.
